Follow the steps below to set up your direct debit:
1. Log into the Latitude App or Latitude Service Centre. On the
Latitude App:
- Tap on your account. If you have multiple Latitude products, set up a direct debit for each one separately.
- Tap the menu (top right corner) → select Direct debit request → Set up direct debit request.
Latitude Service Centre:
- Click Direct Debit in the left-hand menu.
- Select your account (if not preselected) → click Set up direct debit request.
2. Select the direct debit amount you wish to pay each month. You can choose one of the following payment amounts:
- Minimum monthly payment
- Modified or full closing balance
- Fixed amount
3. Follow the prompts to confirm your payment details. You’ll need your:
- Personal bank account number; and
- BSB number (six-digit number found on your bank statement or online banking that identifies an account's bank and branch).
📌 Important: The bank account must be either:
- In your sole name, or
- A joint account where Anyone to Sign authority applies.
4. Review the details and confirm by tapping I agree to the Terms & Conditions.
5. On the confirmation screen, tap Done (Latitude App) or Go to Overview (Latitude Service Centre). Your direct debit is now set up!
Your direct debit will be processed on your payment due date. We recommend that your direct debit is set up prior to 7pm on your payment due date to ensure you don’t miss a payment. You can see any payment due and its due date via the:
- Latitude App: on the Latitude Account details screen, just above the Make a payment button
- Latitude Service Centre: by accessing the Make a payment page on the Latitude Service Centre web portal
- Statement: under What to pay?
No, direct debits occur once per month on your due date. However, you can make additional manual payments through the Latitude App or Latitude Service Centre.
📌 Note:
- If you have a David Jones credit card, any additional one-off payments you make will reduce your scheduled direct debit by the same amount.
- For all other Latitude credit cards, your scheduled direct debit, calculated at the statement date, will still be processed even if you make extra payments. The only exception is if processing the full direct debit would put your account into credit. In that case, we’ll adjust the amount to cover only the remaining debit balance.
No payment will be taken if you don’t have a balance on your statement.
Yes! If your fixed amount is less than the minimum payment, we’ll automatically increase your payment to equal the minimum monthly payment. This will ensure your account stays up to date.
You can change your bank details or the amount you pay through the Latitude App or Latitude Service Centre!
1. On the:
- Latitude App: Select your account → menu → select Direct Debit.
- Latitude Service Centre: Click Direct Debit from the left-hand navigation pane → select your account.
2. Select Update direct debit and apply your changes to either the payment amount or your bank details.
3. Review the details of your direct debit request and confirm by tapping I agree on the Terms & Conditions.
4. A confirmation screen should display, scroll to the bottom and click Done (Latitude App) or Go to overview (Latitude Service Centre).
Your updated direct debit takes effect immediately and will apply to your next scheduled payment.
Please ensure your bank account has sufficient funds on the due date. If your payment fails, a late fee or dishonour fee may apply, and repeated dishonours may result in cancellation of the direct debit facility.
For credit cards that enable you to purchase eligible items using retail finance plans or that offer similar finance plans such as balance transfers, you have the option to pay the following amounts on your statement:
- Minimum Monthly payment: being the Total Due amount shown on your statement.
- Full or Modified Closing Balance: which is made up of amounts you must pay on any current finance plans and any interest-bearing transactions and cash advances, plus any overdue and overlimit amounts outstanding.
- Fixed Amount: that will be the same each month (provided it’s between the minimum payment and the closing balance).
If you purchased an item on a:
- Deferred Payment Plan: no repayments will be taken from your bank account for that purchase until the plan ends, at which point you will begin making payments on that purchase.
- Equal Monthly Payment Plan: regardless of the interest rate, you will be paying in equal monthly instalments for that purchase.
- Minimum Monthly Payment Plan: you will be required to pay the minimum monthly payment due on that purchase.
Yes! Your plan will be cleared by the expiry date. However, some plans (e.g., Deferred Payment and Minimum Monthly Payment Plans) may have a balloon payment in the final month.
💡 Tip: Keep an eye on your upcoming payments in the Latitude App or Latitude Service Centre to ensure you’re prepared.
Things to note:
- If you don’t pay off an interest-free plan in full before it expires, interest will be charged on any remaining balance.
- When paying the Full or Modified Closing Balance, any promotional interest-bearing plans will be paid off in the statement period after the promotional period ends. This means you may be charged one month of interest at the non-promotional annual percentage rate on the remaining balance.
- Payments are applied based on the General Terms & Conditions of your product.
- For accounts with retail finance or balance transfer plans, payment amounts may not be spread evenly across all plans. After covering instalments, cash advances, and retail purchases, payments will first go toward interest-bearing plans or, if none exist, the interest free plans. This means some interest-free plans, that are expiring later than others, may not have any portion of a payment applied in a given month.
- If you prefer to distribute payments across multiple interest-free plans, you can use the payment allocation feature in the Latitude App or Latitude Service Centre, as long as your minimum monthly payment has been made. Keep in mind that doing so may result in higher interest over time.
1. To cancel your direct debit on the:
- Latitude App: Select your account. On the top right-hand menu, select Direct debit request → Cancel direct debit.
- Latitude Service Centre: Click Direct Debit from the left-hand navigation pane → select your account → click Cancelling your direct debit.
2. If the direct debit is successfully cancelled, a confirmation screen will appear. Click Done (Latitude App) or Go to overview (Latitude Service Centre) to continue.
